SOUTH BEND - Richard C. Lentz, 75, of South Bend, passed away on Wednesday, November 25th, in his residence with his loving family by his bedside. He was born in Warsaw, IN, on April 8, 1940, to the late Henry A. Lentz and Ilene D. Remington. On November 8, 1974, in South Bend, he married Yvonne M. (Kruszewski) Lentz, who survives. Mr. Lentz is survived by his daughters, Lori Berta, of Granger, IN, Heather R. Lentz, of Indianapolis, IN, and Gretchen I. Lentz of South Bend, IN; and his sons, Thomas Lentz of Mishawaka, IN, Todd (Dayna) Lentz of, North Liberty, IN, Troy (Shellie) Lentz of Mishawaka, IN, and Tom Cabanaw of South Bend, IN. Also surviving are fourteen grandchildren, sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Joyce (Shannon) Kling, South Bend, IN, niece, Carrie (Eric) Hoffman, South Bend, IN, and nephew, Rob (Mandy) Kling of Tuscumbia, AL. One of his greatest joys in life was spending time with his grandkids and attending all sporting events no matter what the weather might be. He also enjoyed feeding the birds and fishing. Dick retired from the South Bend Fire Department as a firefighter after 32 years of service. He also worked or Coca Cola Bottling Company and most recently Weaver Properties. He was a member of the South Bend Firefighters Local Union 362 and American Legion Post 303, SAL. Friends may visit with the family on Saturday, December 5th, from 12:00 PM until 3:00 PM at Hanley & Sons Funeral Home “Southwest Chapel,” located at West Ireland Road/St. Road 23, South Bend. A Celebration of Life Service will take place on Saturday, December 5th, at 3:00 PM in the funeral home, with Rev./Fr. David Porterfield officiating. In lieu of flowers, PLEASE make all memorial contributions to the family at South Bend Firefighters Credit Union, 1122 S. Main St., South Bend IN 46601.
