The village has a population of 1,945.

Walter H Rutkowski
August 24, 1884 ... December 06, 1976
WalterH Rutkowski 92 of 2818 West US 20 died at 9 am Sunday in his home after suffering a heart attack. He had retired in 1952 fromthe Bendix Corporation. He was born on August 24, 1884 in Poland and had lived in this community 71 years after comming from Poland. On October 10 1910 in South Bend he married the former Euphema Fannie Olawski, who died in 1972. Surviving are severalnieces and nephews. Services willbe held at 10 am Thursday in St Stanislaus B & M catholic Church . Rev Albin Hosinski will officiate with burial to follow at St Josephs Cemetery in South Bend. Friends may call at St Josephs Funeral Home. Mr Rutkowski was a member of Local 9 of the United Auto Workers, Hallers Post 125, American Legion Band and the Studebaker Band. He was a music instructor for St Marys PNCU catholic Church, and the ZB Falcons. He was also a member of the ZB Falcon Conservation Club. In 1971 he was inducted into the Indiana Polka Hall of Fame.
