SOUTH BEND - Ted F. Kawka, 92, of Inwood Hills Estates (formerly of Field Gate Drive in South Bend) passed away at 7:28 PM Monday, December 29, 2008 in his home. January 02, 2009

He was born on October 4, 1916 to the late Frank and Theophila (Szybiak) Kawka in Chicago, IL, and has lived in South Bend since 1945. Along with his parents; two brothers, Edward and Leo Kawka also preceded him in death. Mr. Kawka retired in 1982, as an Electrician, from I.B.E.W. Local No. 153 and National Standard Company in Niles, MI. On November 22, 1945, he married Helen D. Lisek at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in South Bend, IN. He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Helen D. (Lisek) Kawka of South Bend, IN; three daughters, Kathy (husband Marty) Albright of South Bend, IN; Luci (husband Jim) Jordan of South Bend, IN; Barb (husband Denny) Ziolkowski of South Bend, IN; a son, Tim (wife Cindi) Kawka of Granger, IN; 15 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Isabella Jancy of Crystal Lake, IL; Joan Potaczek of Chicago,20 IL; and a brother, Al (wife Gloria) Kawka of Knox, IN. Mr. Kawka was a member of St. Stanislaus Parish in South Bend; a member of I.B.E.W. Local No. 153; and PNA Club in Chicago. He was a U.S. Army Air Corps veteran of World War II. Visitation will be from 2-8 PM Friday, January 2, 2009 at Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix Drive, South Bend, IN, where a Parish Rosary will be prayed at 4:00 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 AM Saturday, January 3, 2009 at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in South Bend. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery.
