SOUTH BEND - Joanne Roman, 64, passed away on Thursday, October 29, 2009 at 7:30 am in her home. Joanne was born on August 28, 1945 in South Bend to the late Walter and Severine (Grzesk) Mucha Sr. She was also preceded in death by her brother, James Mucha. On October 16, 1971, she married Michael Roman. He survives along with their children, Amber (Bryan) Schindler of Niles, MI, Tiffany (Benjamin Wojcikiewicz) Roman of Bedford, IN, and Mark (Carin) Roman of Palatine, IL; and a grandson, Lucas Roman; her brother, Walter (Ann Marie) Mucha, Jr. of Brentwood, TN; her sister, Mary Ann (Jack) Cofer of Marco Island, FL; and by her sister-in-law, Mary Lou Mucha of St. Louis, MO. Joanne was a parishioner of the Basilica of the Sacred Heart at the University of Notre Dame. Visitation will be from 2:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Sunday, November 1, 2009 in ST. JOSEPH FUNERAL HOME, 824 S. Mayflower Rd, South Bend, where a Rosary will be prayed at 4:30 pm. Following the Rosary, friends and family will be able to share their memories of Joanne. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:30 am on Monday, November 2, 2009 in the Basilica of the Sacred Heart at the University of Notre Dame. Burial will follow in Cedar Grove Cemetery at the University of Notre Dame. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society , P.O. Box 22718, Oklahoma City, OK 73123-1718. For those who are unable to attend the Funeral Liturgy, condolences for the family may be made at www.sjfh.net.
