Dec. 2, 1955 - July 20, 2013 AURORA, IL - Daniel B. "Dan" Gillespie, age 57, a resident of North Aurora, IL, formerly of South Bend/Mishawaka, IN and Glendale Heights, IL, died Saturday, July 20, 2013 at his home after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. He was born December 2, 1955 in Chicago, IL. Beloved husband of Vicki A. (nee Marosz) Gillespie, whom he married August 20, 1977, loving father of Bridget M. Gillespie, devoted son of the late Daniel J. and Patricia (nee Hughes) Gillespie, dear brother of Tim (Sara) Gillespie, Mary Anne (Todd) Kepschull, Maureen (Rick) Connors, Terry, Patty and Michael Gillespie, fond brother-in-law of Tom (Madeline) Marosz, uncle of sixteen. Dan grew up in the South Bend area and attended St. Jude Grade School in South Bend and St. Monica Grade School in Mishawaka, IN. He was a 1974 graduate of Mishawaka High School and later attended Ivy Tech and University of Indiana at South Bend. Dan served in the U.S. Army from 1975-1979 and was employed in the Petroleum/Convenience Store/Service industry since 1980, most recently with Stenstrom Petroleum Service Group (formerly Dresser Wayne) in Rockford, IL. He was a member of Annunciation BVM Church in Aurora, IL and enjoyed gardening/landscaping, golf, fishing and was an enthusiastic fan of Notre Dame football. Visitation is Wednesday, July 24, 3:00-8:00 P.M. at Friedrich-Jones Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 44 S. Mill St., Naperville, IL. Funeral Services will follow Wednesday at 8:00 P.M. in the funeral home. An additional celebration of Dan's life will be held in August in South Bend, IN.
