South Bend - Edward J. Wrobel, 89, passed away at 3:20pm on Thursday, May 19, 2011 in Holy Cross Village of Notre Dame. Edward was born on August 9, 1921 in Poland, to the late Karol and Josephine (Wilusz) Wrobel. He was preceded in death by his two sisters, Angela Wrobel and Chesterine Jaroszewski; and by his brother, Al Wrobel. On November 11, 1950 he married, Clementine (Majcher) Wrobel; she survives along with their children, Patricia (David) Martin of South Bend and Barbara (Charles) Dreiling of Denver, CO; two grandchildren, Sarah White of Milwaukee, WI and Kristin (John) Bramfield of Algonquin, IL; a great grandson, John Martin Bramfeld; and by his sister, Irene Wiskotoni. Edward honorably served his country in the United States Army, during WWII. He was a machinist with South Bend Controls retiring after 33 years. He was a member of American Legion Post 357, IBEW 153 and West Side Democratic Club. He enjoyed working on the lawn and gardening. He was an avid reader and walker. Visitation will be from 5:00pm to 8:00pm on Monday, May 23, 2011 in ST. JOSEPH FUNERAL HOME, 824 S. Mayflower Rd, where a Rosary will be prayed at 6:30pm. A Mass of Roman Catholic Burial will be celebrated at 11:00am on Tuesday, May 24, 2011 in St. Anthony de Padua Catholic Church, 2114 E. Jefferson Blvd, South Bend, IN. Entombment will follow in Resurrection Gardens, St. Joseph Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Center for Hospice and Palliative Care, 111 Sunnybrook Ct., South Bend, IN 46637
