SOUTH BEND - Mr. Lynn Douglas Wilda, 89, passed away peacefully at home in South Bend, IN, on Tuesday, February 21, 2017, at 5:00 am, surrounded by his loved ones. Lynn was born on September 23, 1927, to Anton and Mary Wilda in Rice Lake, WI. Lynn met Sandy Merrill at a Polka dance in 2005; from that point on they were dance partners, she was with him through his last days. Left to cherish his memory are his companion, Sandy Merrill of Berrien Springs, MI; his two daughters: Janice Wilda of Alamogordo, NM, and Sherry McCormick of South Bend; his son, DeWayne Wilda of South Bend; and his six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Lynn served honorably in the United States Army, then worked driving construction trucks for Reith-Riley and retired at age 62. Lynn also loved Polka dancing, fishing, and playing cards with family and friends. A memorial service will be held at Scottdale United Methodist Church, 4271 Scottdale Rd., St. Joe/Benton Harbor, MI, at the corner of M139 old 131, Thursday, March 2, 2017, at 3 p.m., Rev. Terrill Schneider, pastor, officiating. A dinner will follow at church. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial donations be made in Lynn's memory to the charity of the donor's choice .
