SOUTH BEND - Marian Ella Zielinski, 85, of South Bend, IN, passed away at 6:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 12, 2016 at Sanctuary at St. Paul's in South Bend, IN surrounded by her loving family. She was born on December 14, 1930 to the late Benedict and Teresa (Orbin) Kish in South Bend, IN, and was a lifelong area resident. In April 1951, as Marian Ella Kish, she married Frank F. Zielinski. He passed away on January 14, 1972. Marian retired in December 1992 from the U.S. Postal Service, where she worked as a Rural Mail Carrier for the South Bend Post Office for 27 years. Marian is survived by her son Gary Zielinski of Martindale, TX; daughter, Karen (Brian) Burke of Chapel Hill, NC; grandchildren, Dr. Brandon (Brigid) Burke of Libby, MT; Dr. Gary (Dr. Kaleigh) Burke of Chapel Hill, NC; Colleen Burke of Chapel Hill, NC; a great-grandson, Tyler Burke of Libby, MT; her sister, Annabelle Madziar of Dallas, TX; a special cousin, Kathy Kish of South Bend, IN; three sisters-in-law, Virginia, Genevieve, and Patricia Zielinski; and many nieces & nephews. The family wishes to thank the staff at Sanctuary at St. Paul's, especially Tasha, Richard, Bonnie, Laurie, Robbie, Linda and Fr. Herb Yost. Marian was a member of Holy Cross Parish, where she belonged to the Altar Rosary Society and was a very active volunteer for various church functions. Visitation will be from 12 - 1 p.m. Friday, October 21, 2016 at Holy Cross Catholic Church, 1050 Wilber Street, South Bend, IN. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 1:00 p.m. Friday, October 21, 2016 in the Church, with Rev. Vincent Coppola, C.S.C. officiating. Burial will follow in Highland Cemetery.
