[N32959] Giuseppe (Joe) Schirripa
January 6, 1947 - August 21, 2022

Surrounded by his loving family, Giuseppe (Joe) Schirripa, 75, of South Bend, IN, passed away on August 21, 2022, after a courageous battle with cancer. Joe was born on January 6, 1947 in Locri (R.C.), Italy, to the late Salvatore and Maria (Parisi) Schirripa. In 1966, Joe moved to South Bend, Indiana with his parents, brothers, and sisters. He proudly became a United States Citizen in 1976. Joe was proud of his 40 plus years working for Art Mosaic and Tile Company, where he made many lifelong friends.Following in his father’s footsteps, Joe was an avid gardener. His garden was full of variety, but he was best known for his amazing tomatoes and basil. No one left Joe’s garden empty handed, as he loved sharing his harvest with all who visited. Joe also enjoyed fishing, rooting for the Notre Dame Fighting Irish, and singing along with his favorite country music. He loved playing cards with family and friends, as well as the occasional trip to the casino. Joe was a master storyteller, who always had a witty comeback and a joke to share. Survivors include his three sons: Michael, Joseph (Lindsay), John (Ashley), and six grandchildren: Tyler, Benjamin, Libby, Aiden, Cameron, and Willow. Other survivors include his sisters Rose (Luciano) Parisi, Carmela (George) Macri, and brothers Domenico, Anthony, and Gerry Schirripa, as well as many beloved nieces and nephews. Joe was preceded in death by his parents and his nephew David Parisi. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Friday, August 26, 2022, at St. Patrick Parish, South Bend, IN, with Father Cyril Fernandes officiating. Graveside services and burial will follow at Highland Cemetery, South Bend, IN. Friends may visit with the family from 3 until 8 p.m. Thursday at Kaniewski Funeral Home, where a Rosary will be prayed at 7:00 p.m. The family would like to thank all the doctors, nurses, and staff that worked with Joe for their care and service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in memory of Joe to St. Patrick Parish. Online condolences may be left at www.kaniewski.com
