Helen A. "Bushie" Trzaskowski
April 6, 1919 - Sept. 29, 2013
MISHAWAKA - Helen A. Trzaskowski, 94, passed away at 5:45 am Sunday, Sept. 29, 2013, in the Michiana Health and Rehabilitation Center. Helen was born April 6, 1919, in Crumstown, Indiana, to the late Frank J. and Mary Kulwicki. Helen married Casimer Trzaskowski in 1938; he preceded her in death on July 4, 1989. Helen was also preceded in death by a daughter, Patricia Bubelenyi; son, Richard Trzaskowski; and by her brothers and sisters. Survivors of Helen include her son, Walter (Janet Gardner) Trzaskowski; and daughter, Delphine (James M) Everett, with whom she lived; grandchildren, Robert L. Trzaskowski, Guy A. Trzaskowski, Michael (Traci) Bubelenyi, Bridget (Michael) Filipski, Dawn M. (Russ) Miears, Candace (Leon) Zuecher, Catherine Trzaskowski, Tina Neil and Kimberly Krakowski; and 14 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her son-in-law, Joseph Bubelenyi, and daughter-in-law, Grace Trzaskowski. Helen was a cashier for several store chains and retired after 20 years of service thru the retail clerks union. Many years ago she was member of the Farmeretts Club, and owned a grocery store near St. Adalbert's Catholic Church with her husband. She also worked at a factory on West Sample Street prior to cashiering. During some of the World War II years she owned and worked on a farm along with her husband Casimer while raising their children near Hudson Lake, Indiana. Helen attended New Carlisle High School, and was a parishioner of St. Stanislaus Kostka Catholic Church in Terre Coupe, Indiana. In later years she became a parishioner of St. Adalbert Catholic Church where she loved to work the fish fries. She enjoyed going to Florida, playing euchre, casinos, traveling, watching animals, cooking and baking. Visitation for Helen will be 2:00 pm to 8:00 pm Wednesday, October 2, 2013, in ST. JOSEPH FUNERAL HOME, 824 S. Mayflower Rd., where a Rosary will be prayed at 4:00 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1:00 pm Thursday, Oct. 3, 2013, in St. Adalbert Catholic Church, with visitation from noon to 1:00 pm at the church. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery.
