Russell D. Garl, 86 years old of the Cassopolis-Edwardsburg area, passed to his rest Nov. 17, 2022 at his home after an illness. He was born Aug. 29, 1936 near Union, MI, the son of Vernon and Jeanette (Miller) Garl and has lived in this area all of his life. He was employed by Uniroyal, then Beck Corp. and then by Stout Co. of Bristol, working mostly as a fork lift operator. Russell was married Aug. 29, 1971 in Elkhart to Lucille M. Anglemyer, who passed Aug. 24, 2020. Surviving children are David (Donna) Newberry of Cassopolis, Rick Harkins and Howard Harkins, both of Edwardsburg, 18 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. Other survivors are his siblings, Marcia (Tom) Anglemyer of Union, Virginia (Carry) Vickers of Elkhart, Daniel (Amy) Garl of Constantine and Dale Garl of Edwardsburg. Family who preceded him in passing, are his parents, his beloved wife, Lucille, daughter Donna Newberry-Bowls, daughter-in-law Brenda Harkins and his siblings, Carol Anglemyer, George Garl and Edward Garl. Family and friends may gather on Tuesday, Nov. 22, 2022 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 Noon at the Paul E. Mayhew Funeral Home, 26863 West Main Street, Edwardsburg, where the Service of Remembrance will begin at 12:00 Noon, with Rev. Jeff Snider, Pastor of Chapel Hill Missionary Church, officiating. Interment will follow at Adamsville Cemetery where Russell will be with his beloved Lucille. Arrangements are by the Mayhew Funeral Home, Edwardsburg.
