SOUTH BEND - Edward “Whitey” Jurgonski, 86, lifelong resident of South Bend, passed away Thursday, June 1, 2017. Edward was born October 3, 1930 in St. Joseph County to the late Enich & Esther (Hazinski) Jurgonski. On April 3, 1976 Edward married Rosemarie Scheibelhut (Patterson); she preceded him in death on June 9, 2002. Edward was also preceded in death by a brother, Harry Jurgonski; and sister, Loretta Smigielski. Edward is survived by two stepchildren, Susan and Jeff Patterson, and nieces and nephews. Edward honorably served his country in the United States Army, serving in Belgium and Germany. He was a truck driver for 21 years. Edward was a member of the American Legion #357 and Golden Boys Golfing Group. He also enjoyed golfing and fishing. A Memorial Gathering for Edward will take place at 11:00am, Wednesday, June 7, 2017 in ST. JOSEPH FUNERAL HOME, 824 S. Mayflower Rd., South Bend, Indiana 46619.
