CLAYTON, IN - Frank L. Kolacz, 76, formerly of South Bend, passed away October 31, 2015. He was born October 3, 1939, to the late John and Harriet (Dylewski) Kolacz in South Bend, IN. He served as an MP during his service in the US Marine Corps. From 1964-69 he was a deputy in the St. Joseph County Sheriffs Dept. He was a deputy for the US Marshals in South Bend from 1969-1989. He transferred to the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center in Brunswick, GA, from 1989-91. In 1991 he was with US Marshals Air Ops (Con-Air) for 5 years, retiring in 1996. In 2006 he became the Jail Commander for the Hendricks County Sheriffs Department, retiring in 2010. He was a candidate for the Hendricks County Sheriffs Department in 2002, He was a member of St. Susanna Catholic Church, Plainfield, the NRA, and a member for the Hendricks County Merit Board. Frank is survived by his wife, Barbara A. (Muszynski) Kolacz; a son, Tom F. (Diane) Kolacz; a daughter, Francine A. (Jon) Carter; a brother, John (Lydia) Kolacz; a sister, Mary (Dallas) Erdman; and 4 grandchildren, Sara and Ashley Carter, and Emily and Justin Kolacz. He was preceded in death by his stepmother, Evelyn Peterson Kolacz. Visitation for Frank will be from 3:00 pm to 8:00 pm Friday, November 6, 2015, in ST. JOSEPH FUNERAL HOME, 824 S. Mayflower Rd., South Bend. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held in Holy Family Catholic Church at 12:00 pm Saturday, November 7, 2015. Burial will take place at a later date.
