SOUTH BEND - Walter E. Klimek Jr., 74, passed away on Sunday, January 11, at 3 p.m. in his residence. Walter was born on September
12, 1934, to the late Walter E. and Mary (Jankowski) Klimek Sr. He was also preceded in death by his three sisters, Virginia Scherry, Helen
Stefaniak and Clara Karpinski; and by his brother, Clem Klimek. On September 30, 1961, he married Irene (Isgrigg), who survives along
with their three children, Julia (Jeffrey) Smith of Granger, James (Lori) Klimek of Mishawaka and Bruce Klimek of South Bend; five grandchildren, Becky and
Chris Klimek, Rachel Durkee, Niketa and Payton Smith. Walter was an engineer for the Norfolk and Southern Railroad, retired after 27 years of service, and had also served in the United States Army. He was the former owner of Klimek's Garage. Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 15, in ST. JOSEPH FUNERAL HOME, 824 S. Mayflower Road, South Bend. A funeral liturgy will be celebrated on Friday, January 16, at 10 a.m. in the funeral home. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery, South Bend. Memorial contributions may be made to Sonlight Fellowship Wesleyan Church, 3702 S. Michigan St., South Bend, IN 46614.
