Irene L. Wroblewski, 88, passed away Thursday, January 5, 2023 in WellBrooke of South Bend. Irene was born on August 2, 1934 in New Carlisle to the late John & Mary (Ciesiolka) Gadacz. She is also preceded in death by her siblings, Gertrude Tobler, Virginia Strzelecki, Pearl Kolacz, and Frank Gadacz, and her husband, Ray “Doc” Wroblewski. Left to cherish the memory of Irene are her sons, Stephen (Angela) Wroblewski, Sr. of Mishawaka and Ray “Bugs” (Cyndy) Wroblewski, Jr. of South Bend; grandchildren, Stephanie Lisenko, Stephen (Jessica) Wroblewski, Jr., Sean, Jeffery (Lauren) Wroblewski, Anthony (Alison) Tomlinson, Maria (Adam) Waltersdorf; several great-grandchildren; sisters, Alice Strzelecki, Marcella (Ronald) Tobolski; and two special nieces, Ruth Dulcet & Linda Krzyzaniak. Irene was a 1952 graduate of New Carlisle High School. After graduation she was employed by the John Hancock Insurance Company and then with the Kroger Company for 23 years. She also served as a financial secretary and insurance agent for PNA 83, South Bend. Irene also represented as Commissioner & Treasurer for PNA, District 15 States of Indiana and Michigan. Irene was well known for her cooking, especially her famous pork chops, strawberry cheesecake, cabbage noodles & sausage, and her spaghetti sauce. She will be truly missed by all. Friends and family will be received 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm, Sunday, January 8, 2023 in St. Joseph Funeral Home, 824 S. Mayflower Rd. with a Rosary to be prayed at 5:30 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12:00 pm, Monday, January 9, 2023 in the funeral home Chapel. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery. A Special Thank You to Hospice, WellBrooke, and Marie Bastine. In lieu of flowers Memorial Contributions may be made to SouthernCare Hospice, 1626 E. Day Rd. Mishawaka, IN 46545 or a veteran’s organization of your choice. Online condolences can be made at sjfh.net.
