SOUTH BEND - Matthew Henry "Hank" Zultanski, 86, of South Bend, passed away on Thursday, Dec. 27, 2007, in Memorial Hospital, South Bend. Mr. Zultanski was born on August 15, 1921, in South Bend, to the late Stanley and Zofia (Lubelski) Zultanski, and was a lifelong area resident.

On May 10, 1947, he married Delena Carr, who preceded him in death on December 19, 1996. He was also preceded in death by three sisters, Irene and Dolly Zultanski, and Shirley Klosinski; and by two brothers, Sylvester "Sully" and Bill Zultanski. He is survived by four daughters, Barbara Werntz and Mary (Tim) Potter, both of South Bend, Sharon (John) Ptacek of Kalamazoo, MI, and Kathy (Larry) Laxson of Nampa, ID; three sons, Butch and Mitch (Linda), both of South Bend, and Timothy (Kris) Zultanski of Granger; 23 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren and eight great-great-grandchildren; and a brother, Walter (Shirley) Zultanski. Matthew worked for Studebaker for 24 years and A.M. General for 21 years, retiring from the latter in 1985. He was parishioner of St. Matthew Cathedral Catholic Church, South Bend, for 50 years, where he also served as an usher. He also served in the Army during World War II.

Visitation will be from 2 to 6 p.m. today, Dec. 30, 2007, in the Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix Drive, South Bend, where a parish Rosary will be recited at 4:30 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1:30 p.m. Monday, Dec. 31, 2007, in St. Matthew Cathedral Catholic Church, with burial to follow at St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park, Granger, IN. The funeral procession will begin at St. Matthew Cathedral. Memorial contributions may be made to the Bishop Crowley Education Fund at St. Matthew Cathedral, 1015 E. Dayton, South Bend, IN 46613.
