SOUTH BEND - Jean Solnoky Penn, 94, died Friday, February 26, 2016, in Cardinal Nursing and Rehab. She was born September 21, 1921, in South Bend, to the late Andrew Solnoky and Elizabeth Madarassy. Also preceding her were sisters, Margaret, Barbara and Pearl Solnoky, and brothers, Andrew and Steven Solnoky. On June 5, 1957, in Louisville, KY, she married Herman Penn, who died in 1979. She is survived by her adopted daughter, Elizabeth Penn- Grove (Thomas) of South Bend; and granddaughter, Amanda Jean Grove; and her sister, Helen Harrison of Columbia City, IN. Jean retired from the real estate business. Jean was a member of the Progress Club, and Memorial Presbyterian Church women's group. In the 1950s she traveled the country with her husband Herman who was the advance man for the Harlem Globetrotters. They were in Greenville, SC, where they adopted Liz in 1960.
