Janet L. Carpenter, 73, Dogwood Road, Mishawaka, died Friday, Dec. 19, 2014 at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center, Mishawaka. She was born July 24, 1941 in New Paris to Ray & Edna (Oswalt) Welty. She married Richard Carpenter on April 3, 1965. Surviving are her husband, Richard, sons, Eric (Mandy) Carpenter, Nepal, Ted (Joy) Carpenter, Carmel, James Carpenter, Goshen, brother, Lowell (Peg) Welty, Milford, sister, Barbara (Phil) Eiler, Goshen and grandchildren, Andrew, Landon, Lauren, Jayden, Mitchell, Noelle and Sarah. Preceding her in death are her parents. Jan was a 1959 graduate of Bethany Christian High School and a member of the Wakarusa Missionary Church and the Gideon's International Women's Auxiliary. She retired from Cullar Associates as a bookkeeper in 2012. Visitation will be 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. Monday, Dec. 22, 2014 and one hour prior to the 10:30 a.m. service on Tuesday, Dec. 23, 2014, all at the Wakarusa Missionary Church, 202 W. Waterford St., Wakarusa. Rev. Rob Dauber of the Wakarusa Missionary Church and Rev. Eric Carpenter (son) will officiate. Burial will be in Yellow Creek Cemetery.
