Robert E. Eastman, 94, died March 11, 2006, at the Springfield Health & Rehabilitation Center in Springfield, VT. He was born in Springfield. He graduated from Springfield High School in 1930, and later attended Norwich University. He was employed as Service Manager at Shattucks Garage in Springfield for more than 25 years, and also worked at Fellows Gear Shaper Co. in Springfield. Later he taught drafting and shop courses at the Springfield High School. He also was clerk of the works during construction of the new Springfield High School. He lived in Port St. Lucie and worked for the Building Department for several years, returning to Springfield in 2000. He was a member of the Springfield Elks Lodge 1560, St. Mary Catholic Church, and was a former member and volunteer fireman with the Springfield Fire Department for more than 20 years. Survivors include his wife, Mary Jane Eastman, of Springfield; three daughters, Brenda Major of Plaistow, NH, Andrea Incropera of Granger, IN, and Carla Fletcher of Winchendon, MA; stepson, Michael Ankuda of Hastings on the Hudson, NY; stepdaughter, Alice J. Boylon of Richardson, TX; nine grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Rosemary Commerford Eastman.Memorial donations may be made to the Springfield Hospital Foundation, P.O. Box 2003, Springfield, VT 05156. SERVICES: Friends may call 6 to 8 p.m. March 14 and 9:30 to 10: 30 a.m. March 15 at the Davis Memorial Chapel in Springfield. An Elks service will be conducted at 7 p.m. March 14. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. March 15 at St. Mary Catholic Church in Springfield, with the Rev. Peter Williams officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary Cemetery in Springfield at a later date. Published in the TC Palm on 3/13/2006.
