MIMS, FL - James E. "Jimbo" Karkiewicz, 60, of Mims, FL, passed away at 5:40 on Thursday, December 16, 2010, in Parrish Medical Center, FL. Jim was born on January 22, 1950, in South Bend, IN, to Benjamin and Joan E. (Dombrowski) Karkiewicz, who preceded him in death. A brother, Richard A., is also deceased. On April 18, 1970, Jim married the love of his life, Dawn H. (Young). She survives with a daughter, Tracy L. Karkiewicz of Titusville, FL; two sons, Danny J. of Melbourne, FL, and Michael P. Coop (Jaimie) of Mims, FL; four grandsons, Christopher, Michael Jr., Tyler and Conor; a brother, Larry M. Karkiewicz of Albuquerque, NM; three sisters, Sharon D. Flis of North Liberty, IN, Nancy S. Heierman (John) of South Bend, IN, and Laurie J. Kroetz (Dave) of Goshen, IN. Jim was a 1969 graduate of LaSalle High School in South Bend. He was in the Marine Corps, and was employed in the elevator industry in South Bend and Florida. Jim loved working with the staff, doctors and nurses at Parrish Medical Center where he was employed for 18 years. He loved fishing, riding ATVs, and vacationing with family. He was a member of the Loyal Order of Moose since 2002 (Indian River Lodge) and attended Holy Spirit Catholic Church of Mims. Cremation will take place at North Brevard Funeral Home and Crematory, 1450 Norwood Avenue, Titusville, FL. Services will be held on December 30, 2010, at 6:30 in the chapel.
