[N6659] Leona M. Liwosz, 86, of South Bend, IN, died at 11:50 AM Thursday, February 14, 2008 in St. Pauls Retirement Community. She was born on May 2, 1921 to the late Walter and Joan (Kuczmanski) Jeziorski in South Bend, IN, and was a lifelong resident. Along with her parents; one sister, Loretta Paar; five brothers, Ed Lefty, Leonard, Ben, and Harry Jeziorski; and Ralph Lake also preceded her in death. Leona was a graduate of South Bend Catholic High School. Mrs. Liwosz retired in October 1980 from the Bendix Corporation, after 40 years of employment. As Leona M. Jeziorski, she married John A. Liwosz in St. Stanislaus Catholic Church. He died on June 28, 1995. She is survived by two sisters, Gertrude Downs of South Bend, IN; Dorothy (husband George) Bagarus of South Bend, IN; two brothers, Joseph (wife Jan) Jeziorski of Manchester, MO; Steve (wife Sharon) Jeziorski of Schererville, IN; one sister-in-law, Wanda Kielton of South Bend, IN; and several nieces & nephews. Leona was a charter member of St. John the Baptist Parish, where she belonged to the retirees club. She was also a member of the Bendix Retirees Club and a lifelong avid Chicago Cubs fan. Visitation will be from 11 am ? 1 pm Monday, February 18, 2008 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 3616 St. Johns Way, South Bend, IN, where a Parish Rosary will be prayed at 12:00 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1:00 pm Monday, February 18, 2008 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church. Entombment will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery.
