SOUTH BEND - Mary J. Stanley, 88, passed away at 12:00 a.m. Wednesday, February 20, 2008, in Miller's Merry Manor, New Carlisle. Mary was born on October 18, 1919, in South Bend, to Matthias and Leopoldina (Andert) Palkowitch. She had been employed by St. Mary's College and was a member of St. Adalbert Catholic Church. On October 16, 1944, she married John Stanley. He preceded her in death along with two sons, Raymond Stanley and Gerald Stanley. Surviving are a sister, Margaret Horvath of South Bend, and a brother, Joseph (Audrey) Palkowitch of South Bend, several nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Friday, Feb. 22, in St. Adalbert Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Riverview Cemetery. Family and friends may call from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Friday in the Zahoran Funeral Home, 1826 Kemble Avenue.
