Robert Van Vynckt
Jan. 20, 1948 - Aug. 12, 2011
SOUTH BEND - Robert L. Van Vynckt 63, of Ironwood Drive in South Bend, peacefully went home to meet his Maker at 3:20pm on August 12, 2011, in Regency Place where he was surrounded by his family. Robert was born on January 20, 1948, to John and Luella Van Vynckt of South Bend, who preceded him in death. He is survived by children, Richard (Debbie) Van Vynckt of South Bend, Michael Van Vynckt of Mishawaka, Dayna Vellos of Mishawaka, Aaron Van Vynckt of St. Louis, MO, and Joel (Alaina) Van Vynckt of South Bend. His legacy lives on through his grandchildren, Mark, Emily, Georgia, Camille, Niko, Ava, and a seventh grandchild on the way. He was preceded in death by his siblings, Richard Van Vynckt, Eugene Van Vynckt, Charles Van Vynckt and Mary DeVolder. His surviving siblings are Edward Van Vynckt, John Van Vynckt, Margaret Stuff, Joanne Jurek, Irene Marazita and Elinor Van Vynckt. Robert worked for many years as an auto mechanic at McKinley Frame and Front End in Mishawaka, followed by many years of employment with Hyline Industries in Elkhart. He spent the past 15 years operating his own home construction and remodeling business R2V2 Services. Robert enjoyed his love of home remodel, repair, building, and sharing his immense knowledge of this trade. This knowledge he has proudly passed on to his sons. Battling cancer, Robert enjoyed his last months sharing the lives and accomplishments of his children and grandchildren with all who came to visit. His last days were spent completely surrounded by his family and dearest friends. Visitation will be at the McGann Hay, Granger Chapel, located at 13260 SR 23 (at Cherry Road) on Wednesday, August 17, 2011, from 5 pm to 7 pm, with a memorial service immediately following at 7 pm.
