MISHAWAKA - Mary Portolese, 84, passed away on Sunday, October 2nd, in the Sanctuary at St. Paul's, South Bend. Mary was born on February 9, 1927, in Mishawaka, to Michael and Angela (Mittiga) Portolese. She was preceded in death by her parents; and three brothers, Dominic "Don," Joseph and Ross Portolese; sister, Margaret Perkins; sister-in-law, Mary Rose Portolese; and three great-nieces and nephews. Surviving are a brother, Frank (Cathy) Portolese of Mishawaka; two sisters-in-law, Shirley Portolese and Elizabeth Portolese, both of Mishawaka; 12 nieces and nephews, 20 great-nieces and nephews, and 13 great-great-nieces and nephews. Mary was a lifetime area resident. She worked in the Accounting Department at Uniroyal in Mishawaka until her retirement. She was a member of St. Bavo Catholic Church and the Daughters of the DiLoretto Club. Visitation will be on Wednesday, October 5th, from 4 to 8 p.m. in Hahn Funeral Home, 505 W. 8th Street, Mishawaka. A Mass of Christian Burial will be on Thursday, October 6th, at 10 a.m., in St. Bavo Catholic Church, with Rev. Barry England officiating. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery, Mishawaka. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made in Mary's name to The Center for Hospice Care, 111 Sunnybrook Court, South Bend, IN 46637; or to the Alzheimer's Association , 50 E. 91st St., Suite 100, Indianapolis, IN 46209-4830.
