Merry Jo Siderits (nee Adams) , 81, of Niles, passed away on Tuesday, January 18th, 2021, at Hanson Hospice, in Stevensville. A Christmas miracle, Merry Jo was born on December 25, 1940, to the late Ivan and Betty (Wholford) Adams. Merry Jo graduated from Niles High School, class of 1959. She married Wilbur D. Siderits and to that union a son, William D. Siderits was born. While the marriage ended, the couple remained friends. Merry Jo worked for Simplicity Pattern and retired from Packard Industries in 2005, where she had worked for over twenty-seven years. She was a member of the former Wesley United Methodist Church. Merry Jo has enjoyed time that she spent in her three-season room watching the deer, squirrels and feeding the birds. She also looked forward to quiet walks through the neighborhood, Sunday car rides, going out to dinner, and spending time on the boat, especially during fireworks. She was an avid Notre Dame Football fan and cherished every moment she could spend with her loved one, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her Parents, Ivan Adams and Betty Haines and her sisters, Paula Szymczak, and Rebecca Bratton. Merry Jo leaves to cherish her memory her husband, Robert Elrod of Niles; her son, William D. “Bill” Siderits of Shelbyville, Michigan; two grandchildren, Shaun (Kari) Siderits of Grand Rapids and William M. (Leah) Siderits of Niles; five great-grandchildren and another soon to arrive.
