South Bend-Russell Frazier, 89, passed away peacefully at 8:14am on Thursday, January 26, 2012 in Memorial Hospital. Russell was born May 8, 1922 to the late Daniel and Minta (Ingram) Frazier in Letcher County, Kentucky. He was also preceded in death by seven sisters and five brothers. On February 14, 1944 Russell married Stella (Rudzynski) and they were married for 68 years. Russell is survived by his wife; two daughters, Kathleen Frazier of South Bend, and Carol Ann (John) Auer of Middlebury; three granddaughters, Sara (Dave) Baylis of Middlebury, Valerie Auer of Dallas, TX, and Kristen (Casey) Cook of Wasilla, AK; and seven great-grandchildren, Jessica, Jacob, Tess and Tami Baylis, Zane Auer and Jace and Annika Cook. Russell honorably served his country in the United States Army during World War II, he was stationed for three years on the Philippine Islands with the medical corp. He retired from the Bendix Corporation after 30 years of service as a Material Handler. He was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church and American Legion Post 50, Local 9. Visitation will be from 2:00pm to 5:00pm on Sunday, January 29, 2012 in ST. JOSEPH FUNERAL HOME, 824 S. Mayflower Rd. A Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated at 11:00am on Monday, January 30, 2012 in the Funeral Home with visitation one hour prior. Burial will follow at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery.
