SOUTH BEND - Michael R. Andert, 80, of South Bend, passed away on Saturday, November 30, 2013, in Signature of South Bend. He was born on March 5, 1933, in South Bend, to the late Herman J. and Margaret (Phillips) Andert. He graduated from Riley High School and attended IU for 1 year. Michael spent two years in the U.S. Army (17 months in Germany). In 1965 he married Margaret L. Graham, who survives. Also surviving are his two sons, Joseph M. (Dawn) Andert of Mishawaka and Kenneth R. Andert of LaPorte; two granddaughters, Brandi (Nate) Sienicki and Katy (Brandon) Kokeny; and four great-grandchildren, Nathan Sienicki, Jordan LaFluer, and Hayden and Sam Kokeny. Mr. Andert worked in accounting for Associates, Inc. for 25 years until they moved to Dallas. He also worked for Midwest Commerce Bank in Elkhart, which became Chase Bank. He was a diehard Cub fan for 60 years and loved anything Notre Dame -- especially football and women's basketball. He loved to travel, especially to the Rocky Mountains, and loved the outdoors, particularly working in the yard. Visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm Wednesday, December 4, 2013, in the Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix Drive, South Bend, where a parish Rosary will be prayed at 3:30 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 am Thursday at Christ the King Catholic Church, with burial to follow in Highland Cemetery, South Bend.
