Kathern J. "Kathy" Brandt, 59, of Rolling Prairie, IN died unexpectedly Wednesday November 30, 2011 in IU Health LaPorte Hospital. Kathy was born September 3, 1952 in South Bend and was a lifetime Michiana area resident. On June 24, 1978 in South Bend, she married Steve L. Brandt who survives. Also surviving are a son, Chris Welker of South Bend; a grandson, Benjamin Welker; her parents, Thelma (Kelly) and George Spanos of South Bend; and sisters, Vicki (Ray) Schoen of Rochester, IN and Cindy (Mike) Longfellow of South Bend. She was preceded in death by a son, Jason E. Brandt in 1998. Kathy was a graduate of South Bend Washington High School and earned an Associate's Degree from IUSB. She loved spending time in her garden and greatly enjoyed traveling around the country.
