SOUTH BEND - Amelia “Amy” Coddens, 91, of South Bend, IN, passed away peacefully on Saturday December 16, 2017. Of Belgian and German descent, Amy was born March 23, 1926 in New Carlisle, IN. She grew up as part of a large farming family. In 1946 she married and devoted herself to Bob Coddens, who passed away in 1998. Amy and Bob were long- time members of the PNA Club in South Bend, where they were excellent bowlers and smooth dancers. They also enjoyed throughout their lives, playing cards with friends and family. An excellent cook, Amy also loved canning produce from their sizeable vegetable garden. There was always a pie on the counter and hot coffee to share with anyone who stopped by. Many friends and family enjoyed the bounty that she so enjoyed giving. Amy will be missed by many friends and family, including her two sons; three grandchildren, two great-grandchildren; four sisters, a brother, and their families as well as the entire Coddens side of the family. Visitation will be held from 2:00-4:00PM and 5:30-8:00PM on Friday, December 22, 2017 at Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix Drive in South Bend, IN.
