LAKEVILLE - Martha M. "Babe" Stanage, 91, formerly of Lakeville, Indiana passed away at 7:40 AM Wednesday, January 1, 2014 at Hamilton Grove Communities, New Carlisle. Martha was born on April 28, 1922 in Lakeville to the late Joseph and Pearl Agnes (Laughman) Plummer and has remained a lifelong resident of this area, graduating in 1940 from Lakeville High School. On September 11, 1943 in North Liberty she was united in marriage to Robert Marker, who preceded her in death in August of 1944. On March 23, 1946 in Plymouth she was united in marriage to Kenneth Joseph Stanage, who preceded her in death on September 3, 2000. Martha worked for EZ Heat Wirecraft for 30 years as an inspector, office worker, and in assembling and shipping, retiring in 1991. She attended Olive Branch United Brethren Church where she was actively involved as a Lay Leader, Sunday School Teacher, VBS Worker, and enjoyed working in the church kitchen preparing meals. She was a former member of the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary Post 363, Lakeville. Her home was a "gathering place" for her family that she greatly loved. Martha was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Pearl A. Plummer; husband, Robert Marker; husband, Kenneth J. Stanage; son, Kenneth Jon Stanage; half-sister, Helen Knepp; and brothers, Bob, John, Glen, James and Joseph Plummer. She is survived by her daughters, Cheryl D. Bolles of South Bend, Janis (Terry) Kulczar of South Bend, Shelly Sue (Ken) Hale of Lapaz, and Cathi Ann (Barry) Candler of South Bend; son, Steven Lee (Ethelyn) Stanage of Custer, WA; daughter-in-law, Jana Stanage of Kansas; 16 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; sisters, Donna Nolen, Lelia Masten, Evelyn Rice, Iris Tortorelli, and Jean Rice; and brothers, Richard, Lynn, Daniel and Arthur Plummer. Funeral services for Martha M. "Babe" Stanage will be 11:00 AM Monday, January 6, 2014 at the Olive Branch United Brethren Church, 22750 Osborne Road, Lakeville, with Pastor Dan Drake officiating. Visitation will be Sunday, January 5, 2014 from 3:00 - 8:00 PM at Palmer Funeral Home, 314 S. Michigan Street, Lakeville, and one hour prior to services at the church on Monday. Memorial contribution may be made to the Olive Branch United Brethren Church, 22750 Osborne Road, Lakeville, IN 46536 or to the Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758517, Topeka, Kansas 66675.
