GRANGER - Monica Theresa "Mickey" Koehnke, 88, passed away at 2:45 a.m. on Sunday in her home. "Mickey," as she was lovingly known by many, was born South Bend on June 5, 1922, to the late Stanley and Helen (Stajkowski) Sobczak. She was married to Walter G. Koehnke on November 6, 1943. He passed away on November 3, 1991. She retired from Memorial Hospital in December 1985 after 10 years of service. Mrs. Koehnke had been a member of St. Pius X Parish since 1961 where she served on the funeral meal committee. Survivors include five of her six daughters, the late Gertrude (Jack) Erhardt of South Bend, Patricia (James) Graveel of Geneva, IL, Janet (the late Larry) Monroe of North Liberty, IN, Judith (Robert) Lytle of New Haven, IN, Marie Ronan of Lakeville, IN, and Marsha (Derk) Teitsma of Elkhart, IN; 17 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday at 1:30 p.m., with visitation at 12:30 p.m. in St. Pius X Catholic Church, Fir Road & SR 23, Granger. Msgr. William Schooler officiating and con-celebrated by Rev. Jeffery Largent and Rev. John Delaney. Friends may also call today from 2-8 p.m. in the McGann Hay, Granger Chapel, 13260 SR 23, enter off Cherry Road, where a parish vigil service will be held at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations in Mrs. Koehnke's memory may be made to St. Pius X Parish, 52553 Fir Road, Granger, IN 46530; or to the Center for Hospice Care, 111 Sunnybrook Court, South Bend, IN 46637.
