Charlene R. Christensen, 82, of Niles, MI, passed away Wednesday, October 19, 2022, at Lakeland Hospital in Saint Joseph, MI, one month shy of her 83rd birthday. She was born on November 19, 1939 to the late Edmund Deranek and Ruby (Price) Deranek in South Bend, IN as one of nine children. Charlene worked as a cashier at Martin’s in Niles, MI before retiring. Charlene enjoyed crocheting, gardening, playing card games, and spending time with her family. She is survived by her husband of 33 years, Ronald Christensen of Niles, MI; one daughter and one son, Cheryl Pugh and Eugene Pietsch Jr., both of New Carlisle, IN; two sisters, Peggy Korlowicz of South Bend, IN, and Barbara (Tom) Pattillo of South Carolina; one brother, Thomas (Jane) Deranek of South Bend, IN; three grandchildren, Heather McGinnis, Eugene (Amanda) Pietsch III, Justin (Amanda) Pietsch, six great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by two great-granddaughters, and five siblings; Ronald, George, Eugene, Albert, and Joan. A memorial service will be held in the clubhouse at the Franklin Woods Mobile Home Park, 1950 S. 13th Street, Niles, MI on November 19, 2022 from 1pm to 3pm. Cremation services were handled by Hoven Funeral Home, Inc in Buchanan, MI.
