Killed by the Rail Cars
Joseph Benko has Right Arm severed from body at the Shoulder

Andrew Gergotz the seven year old son of Joseph Gergotz 620 Kendall St was fatally injured and his companionJoseph Benko also seven years old had his right arm cut off at the shoulder bythe switching engine on the Lake Shore and Michigan Central Railroad Saturday afternoon about 4:00 pm.
The boys were playing on a flat car on which a wagon was loaded. The switch engine started to back up and both boys were thrown off the car and under the wheels of the train. The Gergotz boy was nearly cut in two the car wheels passing over his srtomach. The accident was witnessed by the train crew and an ambulance and the Police were called. Both boys were removed and sent to Epwoth Hospital (now Mermorial) were every attention was given. The Gergotz boy lived but a few moments and the body was taken to H. L. Yerricks undertaking rooms. The Benko boy is expected to recover.
The switch engine was in charge of O.A. Penwell. No blame wasattached tothe railroad men as they were not aware the boys were onthe flatcar. The accident occured at the Taylor Street crossing and was witnessed by several people. The funeral of Andrew Gergotz was held at the Hungaring Church on Sunday the body laid to rest at Cedar Grove Cemetery.
