Harry M. Michalak, age 90 years, died Tuesday, November 12, 2013 at William Beaumont Hospital, Royal Oak. He was born to Stanley and Stella (Stajkowski) Michalak on June 15, 1923 in Bay City, where he resided all his life. Harry was a veteran of WWII and honorably served our country in the U. S. Coast Guard. He was previously employed with McDonald Dairy Company and R.W.C. He was a member of St. Stanislaus Kostka Parish, its Senior Citizens Club and Athletic Club, and the St. Vincent DePaul Society. On October 10, 1953, Harry was united in marriage to Leona E. Wisniewski and they shared their lives together for over 52 years until her death on July 4, 2006. Surviving family members include three sons and one daughter, Tom Michalak (wife, Kris) of Lake City, Dr. Mary Michalak (husband, Lynn Schram) of Granger, Indiana, Timothy Michalak (wife, Nancy) of Cumberland, Maine, and Lawrence Michalak (wife, Alison Thorburn) of Bloomfield Hills; seven grandchildren, Diana (Jeffery) Pluger, Steven (Emily) Michalak, Luke Schram, Geoffrey, Vanessa, and Clarissa Michalak, and Caroline Michalak; two great grandchildren, Mikayla and Mariah Pluger. In addition to his parents and wife, he was predeceased by a son, Terrence Michalak; two brothers and two sisters, Stanley and Chester Michalak, Dorothy Michalak, and Florence Grabowski. The Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated Monday, November 18, 2013 at 10:00 AM in St. Stanislaus Kostka Church, Kosciuszko and Grant Streets, Bay City. Harry will lie in state in church Monday after 9:00 AM. Rev. Jerzy Dobosz will preside, with military rites following by the Bay County Veterans Council, and interment will be in St. Patrick Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be directed to St. Stanislaus Kostka Parish, St. Regis Church (Bloomfield Hills), or the National Kidney Foundation (Ann Arbor). Members of St. Stan's Senior Citizens Club will pray the rosary Sunday at 2:00 PM in the funeral chapel. Visiting hours are Sunday from 2:00 to 8:00 PM at the W. A. Trahan Funeral Chapel.
