EDWARDSBURG - John Thomas Kujawski, 73 years old, of Eagle Lake, Edwardsburg, passed to his rest July 22, 2012, at his home after an illness. He was born Oct. 9, 1938, in South Bend, the son of Louis Stanley and Helen Ann (Czaplinski) Kujawski, and had lived all of his life in Michiana. John worked for the Bayer Corp. as a Chemical Operator for 42 years. He graduated from Edwardsburg High School in 1957, and was known for his abilities in football, basketball and track. He was an avid fisherman, a member of the Edwardsburg American Legion and V.F.W., having served in the U.S. Army. One of the enjoyable things John liked was cooking and he had a knack for making waffles, being so good at waffle making that he shared in a waffle business and was known as "The Waffle Man." He did his part in the catering business and helped Faulkner Catering. John was married July 28, 1952, at Our Lady of the Lake Church to Carol J. Sult, who survives, as well as their children, Stephen P. (Julie) Kujawski of Granger and Susan D. Quick of Nashua, NH. He has three grandchildren, Sasha and Taylor Quick of Nashua, NH, and Carrington Kujawski of Granger. There is a sister, Sylvia (Tom) Lewis of Granger, a brother, Anthony Kujawski of Cassopolis, and a sister-in-law, Joyce Kujawski of Niles. Family who have preceded him in death are his parents, brother, Louis Eugene Kujawski, and a sister-in-law, Margaret Kujawski. Friends and family may gather on Thursday, July 26, 2012, from 1-3 PM at Our Lady Of The Lake Catholic Church, 24832 US-12 East, in the Social Hall. The Mass of Resurrection will be at 3:00 PM Thursday at the church, with Father Joe McCormick, pastor. The United States Army Honor Guard will be present at the church to give Military Honors by playing TAPS and folding the American flag. Memorial donations may be made to Cass County Cancer Services, P.O. Box 676, Edwardsburg, MI 49112. The arrangements are by Paul E. Mayhew Funeral Home, Edwardsburg. I'M FREE Don't grieve for me, for now I'm free I'm following the path God laid for me I took His hand when I heard him call, I turned my back and left it all. I could not stay another day To laugh, to love, to work or play. I've found that peace at the close of day. If my parting has left a void, Then fill it with remembered joy. A friendship shared, a laugh, a kiss, Ah, yes, these things I too will miss. Be not burdened with times of sorrow I wish you the sunshine of tomorrow. My life's been full, I savored much. Good friends, good times, a loved one's touch. Perhaps my time seemed all too brief, Don't lengthen it now with undue grief. Lift up your heart and share with me, God wanted me now; He set me free.
