John J. Molnar (July 1, 1916 - June 25, 2002)
John J. Molnar, 85, of West Sample Street, passed away at 3:10 a.m. Tuesday, June 25, 2002, in St. Joseph Care Center West. Mr. Molnar retired in 1979 from Mastics where he had been employed for 10 years. John also had been a member of the National Guard, the Hungarian Democratic Club and the Civilian Conservation Corps. He was born on July 1, 1916, in South Bend, to John and Rose Molnar. On February 3, 1940, in Our Lady of Hungary Church, he married the former Elizabeth 'Betty" Herczeg, who survives. Also surviving are two daughters, Deborah (Ken) Grzegorek of Fairfield, Ohio, and Donna (Don) Alexander of South Bend; a son, Dennis (Fran) Molnar of Apple Valley, MN; a second son and daughter-in-law, Bob (Sally) Milewski of Granger; 5 grandchildren, Michael Molnar and his fianc©be, Sheila Redding, Karen (Steve) Srmek, Diana (Scott) Montgomery, Jason Grzegorek, Matthew Molnar; 6 step-grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great-grandchild. John was preceded in death by his parents, and by brothers, Steve Molnar and Joseph Molnar, and 4 other brothers. The Molnar family would like to extend a big thank you to Marge Janiak. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday in the Zahoran Funeral Home, 1826 S. Kemble Avenue. Burial will follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. Family and friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home, where a Rosary will be recited at 3:30. Memorial contributions can be made to Hospice of St. Joseph County.
