TRAIN KILLS MAN
Charles Wentland meets instant Death
Lake Shore Limited No. 16 Passes through City at High Rate of Speed

Charles Wentland of 426 So. Walnut was struck bt the Lake Shore Limited train No. 16 at the Walnut Street crossing Sunday afternoon shortly after 4:00 pm and was instantly killed. The accident was witnessed by several people who called the Police as soon as the train had passed. The Police removed the body to the H. L Yerrick undertaking room. Mr Wentland was attempting to cross the tracksand it is supposed did not hear the train which was going at a high rate of speed, it being a few minutes late. Mr. Wentland was thrown a full 40 feet. His right arm was broken and his back was badly bruised. It is supposed his death was instant. Mr. Wentland had been a residentof the city for some timeand leave a wife and three children. The funeral was held Tuesday morning and the remains will be laid to rest at Cedar Grove Cemetery.
