Mrs. Sophia J. Cissne, 95, of 1302 Wright Ave., LaPorte, died Sunday, June 29, 2003, at 7:10 a.m. at Miller's Merry Manor Nursing Facility in Plymouth. She was born Jan. 2, 1908, in Chicago to Joseph and Mary (Sobczak) Jendrzejak. Mrs. Cissne worked for H.H. Kessler and also owned Cissne's Venetian Blinds and Shades with her husband. She was a member of LaPorte Presbyterian Church, a past member of the PTA and LaPorte Business Girls Association, and an associate member of LaPorte Hospital Auxiliary. On Sept. 16, 1931, in LaPorte, she married Edgar Cissne, who died Dec. 4, 1980. Also preceding her in death were three sisters, Josephine Silko, Sheila Teets and Stella Jendrzejak; and one brother, John Andrews. Surviving are one daughter, Carol (Tom) Taylor of LaPorte; one granddaughter, Susan K. Taylor of LaPorte; one grandson, Michael (Colleen) Taylor of Lafayette; three great-grandchildren, Kaela, Joseph and Thomas; and several nieces and nephews. The funeral will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Cutler Funeral Home with Rev. David Gibbs officiating. Friends may call Tuesday from 2 to 8 p.m. Burial will be in Patton Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Children's Carillon of the Presbyterian Church or to the charity of the donor's choice.
