Theresa V. Gyori, 90, formerly of South Bend, passed away on October 31, 2012 in West Lafayette, IN. She was born on October 16, 1922 in South Bend, to the late Michael and Elizabeth (Horvath) Santa. Theresa was a long time resident of South Bend, moving to West Lafayette in 1988. She attended St. Stephens Catholic School and was a 1941 graduate of Central High School. On June 20, 1942 in South Bend, she married Emery A. Gyori, who preceded her in death on December 24, 1982. Also preceding in death: her brothers, George Santa and Michael Santa; son-in-law, John Growcock; two sister-in-laws, Irene Gyori and Irene Santa; brother-in-law, Peter Gyori; and two nephews, George Santa and Craig Santa Theresa was a wonderful homemaker for her family. She enjoyed crocheting, cooking and baking traditional Hungarian foods, oil painting, golfing and bowling. She was a member of several golf leagues and bowling leagues in this area. Prior to moving to West Lafayette, she was a member at Grace United Methodist Church, South Bend. Theresa V. Gyori is survived by three daughters, Sherron Gyori Growcock of Westfield, IN, Pam (Bill) Parmer of Marlton, NJ, and Anne (Kurt) Sommer of West Lafayette, IN; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; brother, Alex (Helen) Santa of South Bend; sister-in-law, Pat Santa of South Bend; and several nieces and nephews. Memorial services will be 12:00 Noon, Saturday, November 10, 2012 at Palmer Funeral Home - Guisinger Chapel, 3718 S. Michigan St, South Bend, where friends may visit one hour prior to services. Burial will follow at Sacred Heart Hungarian Cemetery, South Bend.
