MISHAWAKA - Johanna Guzowski, 90, passed away on Sunday, August 11, at Memorial Hospital, South Bend. Johanna was born on June 6, 1923, in Den Helder, Netherlands, as the daughter of Albertus and Cornelia (Goes) De Waard. She was preceded in death by her parents, and by a son, Edward Guzowski, on February 1, 1997. On November 26, 1953, in Vlissingen, Netherlands, she married John C. Guzowski. He preceded her in death on September 10, 2011. Surviving are a grandson, Dylan Guzowski (Donnacha O'Brien) of Mishawaka, and a daughter-in-law, Helana "Leny" Guzowski (Kyle Sarber) of Mishawaka. Johanna was the oldest of 11 children. She was also a member of the Daughters of Isabella. She worked in various locations as a Registered Nurse for 35 years before she retired. Visitation for family and friends will be on Thursday, August 15, from 3 to 7 p.m. with Wake prayers at 6:30 p.m. in Hahn Funeral Home, 505 W. 8th Street, Mishawaka. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, August 16, at 11:00 a.m. in St. Bavo Catholic Church, with Rev. Barry England officiating. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery, Mishawaka.
