Donald “Dandy Don” D. Alexander, Sr., 75, passed away with his wife, Donna, son, Don, and sister-in-law, Debbie by his side on Wednesday, February 01, 2023 in Memorial Hospital after a valiant battle with cancer. Don was born on November 05, 1947 in Goshen, IN. Don was preceded in death by his parents, William (Lydia) Alexander and Evelyn (Albert) Whipstock-Durski, and two brothers, James & Robert Alexander. Left to cherish the memory of Don is his loving wife of 38 years, Donna (Molnar) Alexander; children, Donna (Ron) Poole of South Bend, IN, Diana (John) Nichols of Spring Hill, FL, Tamara Terry of Lakeland, FL, and Donald Alexander, Jr of South Bend, IN.; grandchildren, Jeff, Alex, & Jarrett Taylor, John, Ryan, Anthony, & Craig Nichols, Clarice, Kyra, & Adam Alexander; sisters-in-law, Diana & Tina Alexander, Debbie (Ken) Grzegorek; nephew, Matthew (Catherine) Alexander; niece, Amanda (Jason) McIntosh; and many other nieces, nephews, great-grandchildren, and great-nieces/nephews. Don proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps in Viet-nam. He was a member of the American Legion Post 284, VFW 9820, St. Casimir Married Men’s Club, Usher and Seniors Club. Don worked part time as a farmer and as a full-time truck driver for many years. He was an avid Chicago Cubs, Notre Dame, Disney, and NASCAR fan. Don enjoyed gardening, playing with his scotty-dogs, and spending time with his veteran buddies at the clubs. He also enjoyed going to the Cubs Conventions and Cedar Point with his wife, Donna. Friends and family will be received 3:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Wednesday, February 15, 2023 in St. Joseph Funeral Home, Mayflower Rd. with a Rosary to be prayed at 4:00 pm. A Funeral Service will take place at 10:00 am on Thursday, February 16, 2023 in the Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at Highland Cemetery. Memorial Contributions may be made in Don’s honor to St. Casimir Parish Office, 2505 W Grace St, South Bend, IN 46619. Online condolences can be made at sjfh.net.
