MISHAWAKA - Agnes M. Szamecki, 97, residing in Mishawaka, passed away at 5:17 pm Sunday, September 29, 2013, in Miller's Merry Manor, New Carlisle. She was born in Mishawaka on February 3, 1916, to the late Leo and Elizabeth (Meyerhoffer) Meixel, and remained a lifelong area resident. On May 30, 1942, in South Bend, Agnes married Frank J. "Bunny" Szamecki, who preceded her in death on February 14, 1986. She was also preceded by her sister, Helen Horn; and brother, Leo Meixel Jr. Agnes is survived by her daughter, Jean Ann Adams of Sugar Land, TX; son, James Michael (Jennifer) Szamecki of Clearwater Beach, FL; grandchildren, Scott (Diana) Adams, Trisha (Kelvin) Manning and Jason (Amanda) Szamecki; and great-grandchildren, Jorie and Jersie Szamecki, Blake Kubiak, Lexie Manning and Coen Adams. Agnes was a longtime member of Christ the King Catholic Church, where she was quite involved in both school and church activities. She greatly enjoyed living at Waterford at Edison Lakes the past three years, where she was very active in social activities, including Bridge and Euchre Clubs. Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Thursday, October 3, 2013, in Christ the King Catholic Church, South Bend, and Mrs. Szamecki was interred at Highland Cemetery. Palmer Funeral Home - Hickey Chapel, assisted the family with arrangements.
