SOUTH BEND - Kenneth G. Tidey, Sr., 69, of South Bend, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, September 28, 2017. He was born on March 19, 1948, in South Bend, to George and Joanne (Rice) Tidey. On October 3, 1969 he married Radene Taberski, who survives. Also surviving are his two sons, Keith (Dawn) and Kenneth, Jr., both of South Bend; his mother, Joanne Haist of Yuma, AZ; four grandchildren, Kaitlyn, Alexis, Alyssa and MacKenzie Tidey; two brothers, Don Burnell and Chuck Tidey; and by a niece, Rachel Zawistowski of South Bend. Kenneth retired in 2013 from Holland TNT and the South Bend School Corporation, where he worked as truck and bus driver. He was a United States Army Vietnam Veteran, an avid fisherman, and loved going to the casino, but most of all he loved his kids and grandkids. Visitation will be from 3 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, October 4, 2017 at the Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix Dr., South Bend. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday, October 5, 2017 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, with burial to follow at St. Joseph Cemetery, South Bend.
