Daniel C. Gonsoroski
April 19, 1934 - February 2, 2008
Daniel C. Gonsoroski, 73, of South Bend, Indiana passed away on Saturday, February 2nd in Memorial Hospital of South Bend. A lifelong resident of South Bend, Daniel was born on April 19, 1934, the second son of Hilary and Elgie Gonsoroski, who preceded him in death in 1957 and 1937 respectively. An older brother, Richard Ganns, passed away in 1986. He is survived by a sister, Joy Ann Williamson of London, England. In his immediate family he is survived by his wife Lillian (nee Kurowski) of South Bend. They were married on September 11, 1954 and had six children. Three surviving daughters include Joy Ann (Geoff) Newman of Mishawaka, Karen (Paul) Lavoie of Niles, and Nancy (Joseph) Letizia of Granger; three surviving sons include: David Gonsoroski of Boca Raton, FL; Tom Gonsoroski of Mishawaka and Paul (Rebecca) Gonsoroski of Granger; grandchildren include, Nicholas, Alexander, Julian, Daniel, Mia, Nicole and Kate. His surviving wife, children and grandchildren will be forever grateful for the love, support, and kindness he so generously extended to them throughout their lives and his memory will remain in our hearts forever. Daniel was the founder and President of Aucilla, Inc. a manufacturing plant which produced high tech components for computers, the automotive industry and various other manufacturers. After 32 successful years, he retired in 2004. Daniel was an avid equestrian having owned several horses during his life, and actively donated to many worthy charities, both locally and nationally. He was a US Navy veteran and served during the Korean Conflict aboard the USS Aucilla from 1951 to 1954. Visitation will be from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, February 6 at the Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix Drive, South Bend. A rosary will be recited from 7 to 8 p.m. A funeral mass will be held at Christ the King Church on Thursday, February 7 at 10 a.m. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to: St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105, or, The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, 941 E. 86th St., Suite 100, Indianapolis, IN 46240. Finally, the family would like to extend its gratitude to the doctors, nurses and staff of Memorial Hospital for their kindness and care.
