Sister Grace Ann (Eleanore) Karczewski, C.S.F.N., 82, passed away at 10:20 p.m. Wednesday, November 8, 2006, in Nazarethville, Des Plaines, Ill. Sister was born January 19, 1924, in South Bend, to John and Bernice Karczewski, who preceded her in death along with her sister, Lillian Wlodarek, and brothers, Stanley, John Jr. and Ted. Sister Grace Ann entered the Community of the Congregation of the Holy Family of Nazareth in 1939, making her first vows on June 12, 1942, and final vows on August 2, 1945. Sister Grace Ann was appointed to many parishes throughout the years, mostly in Chicago but also in Florida, Wisconsin and from 1970-1976 at St. Casimir School here in South Bend. She served her community as a superior, principal, librarian and teacher. Of all her positions, that of teacher was her favorite. Along with the many Sisters she befriended through the years, she is survived by her brother, Bernard (Mary) Karczewski; sister, H. Theresa (Robert) Audenaert; and sisters-in-law, Alice Karczewski and Sally Karczewski. Sister Grace Ann will also be missed by her many nieces, nephews and their families.
