NEW CARLISLE - Carolyn L. Marek, 92, of New Carlisle, passed away at 7:30 PM Tuesday, April 3, 2012 in her residence after an extended illness. Mrs. Marek was born on September 29, 1919 in LaPorte, Indiana and resided in the area her lifetime. In 1937 as Carolyn L. Lambert, she married James F. Marek who preceded her in death in 1980. Carolyn is survived by two daughters, Carolyn Y. Kaczmarek of South Bend and Linda D. Young of New Carlisle, IN; one son, James F. (Carolyn) Marek of South Bend; two sisters, Effie Jones and Isola Cramer both of Seattle, Washington; and a brother, James Lambert of Seattle, WA. Also surviving are 8 grandchildren & 19 great grandchildren, all of whom she loved and cherished. Mrs. Marek was preceded in death by her loving husband and a son, Daniel F. Marek. Carolyn loved reading and cooking and just being with her family. Her children described her as the best mother anyone could ever want. She was dedicated to the Lord and was a member of Victory Light House Church. The family would like all memorial contributions made to United Pentecostal Church Youth Group, 4609 South Ironwood Road, South Bend, IN 46614.
Visitation hours will be from 12:00 PM - 2:00 PM Monday, April 9 in Hanley & Sons "Southwest Chapel" Funeral Home located at West Ireland Rd./Indiana 23, South Bend. Funeral services will take place at 2:00 PM Monday in the funeral home with Pastor Patti Mack-Tucker officiating. Burial to follow at Mount Pleasant Cemetery. The HANLEY & Sons "Southwest Chapel" Funeral Home handled arrangements and services and extends its deepest sympathy and heartfelt prayers to the Marek family.Published in South Bend Tribune on April 6, 2012
