SOUTH BEND - Elsie E. Malecki, 76, of South Bend, passed away at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, August 11, 2007, in Hospice House. Elsie was born on September 3,1930, in South Bend, to the late John and Julia (Sauer) Palatin. On May 15,1954, she married Bernard J. Malecki. He passed away on February 14, 1996. Also preceding her in death is a brother William Palatin. Elsie is survived by her children, Peggy (Dennis) Geik of South Bend, Vickie (Kari) Baier of Granger, and Frederick (Karla) Malecki of Granger; and grandchildren, Zachary and Jonathan Baier, and Christopher and Ryan Geik. Elsie was an Accounting Clerk at Bendix before she retired in 1993. She had been a parishioner of St. Adalbert, St. Anthony and St. Stanislaus Bishop and Martyr Catholic Churches' Harvest Houses. She also belonged to the Local 5 Retirees Club and Bendix Salaried Retirees Club. Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, August 14, 2007 in ST. JOSEPH FUNERAL HOME, 824 S. Mayflower Road, South Bend, where a Rosary will be prayed at 4 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, August 15, 2007, in Holy Family Catholic Church, where she was a member. Inurnment will be at a later date in St. Joseph Cemetery, South Bend. Memorial Contributions may be made to the Center for Hospice and Palliative Care 111 Sunnybrook Court, South Bend, IN 46637.
