Charles Eliot Hoke
SOUTH BEND -- Services for Charles Eliot Hoke, 77, of South Bend, will be held at 10 a.m. Monday in St. Andrew's Greek Orthodox Church. He died at 10:45 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 28, 2004, in his daughter's residence in Marion, Ohio.Born March 1, 1927, in Fort Wayne, he was the son of Charles Sr. and Florence Weaver Hoke. He was married June 27, 1948, in Logansport, to Artemis Panagon, who survives. A 1947 graduate of Purdue University, where he earned a bachelor's degree, Mr. Hoke was a lab chemist for Uniroyal from 1947 to 1985. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He was a member of St. Andrew's Greek Orthodox Church in South Bend, and the American Legion Post #60 in Logansport.He was the organist at First Presbyterian Church for 29 years. Also surviving are two daughters, Marian Whittaker and her husband, Scott, Westerville, Ohio, and Helen Laskaris and her husband, Peter, Marion, Ohio; one son, Nick Efthimiou and his wife, Anna, LaGrange; six grandchildren, Carly and Steve Nicholakis, Athan and Nicholas Laskaris, Dino and Nichole Efthimiou; and one sister, Mary Johnston and her husband, Hollis, Logansport. The Rev. George Kostantopoulous will officiate at the services. Burial will be at 1 p.m. Monday in Mount Hope Cemetery, Logansport. Friends may call from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday in the Welsheimer Family Funeral Home, where a Trisaigon service will be held at 5 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Andrew's Greek Orthodox Church, 52455 North Ironwood, South Bend IN 46635.
