Edward Joseph Wasik, 80, residing in Granger, IN, passed away early Saturday morning, July 30, 2022 in his home. He was born May 21, 1942 in Chicago, IL, a son of the late Edward & Eva (Czaplicki) Wasik. On July 8, 2016 in Indianapolis, IN Ed was united in marriage to Sandra L. Shoff who survives. Also surviving are two sons, Edward Justin (E.J.) Wasik of Denver, CO, Jon (Danielle) Wasik of Elkhart, and three daughters, Lindsay V. Helman of Granger, Kirsten (David) Wilcox of Mishawaka, and Bethany Cook (Zoe Allen) of Chicago. He is also survived by eight grandchildren, Dawson Pontius, Colton Helman, Addison Helman, Rush Wasik, Oliver Allencook and Elisa Allencook, Jules Young, and McKenna Brabham, along with his brother, Charles (Jackie) Wasik of Sun City West, AZ; and a half brother, Wayne (Twyla) Knowles of Sedona, AZ. Ed retired as an Air traffic Controller with the Federal Aviation Association, having worked in South Bend, Chicago O’Hare, and Indianapolis. For many years Ed enjoyed working at the Oshkosh Air Shows in Wisconsin. Ed proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corp. for 10 years: 1960-1970. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Mishawaka, and American Legion, Edwardsburg, MI. The family will receive friends from 1:00 - 3:00 p.m. Saturday, August 6, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 930 Park Place, Mishawaka, IN. A Celebration of life will follow at 3:00 p.m. at the Church. Following cremation, he will be laid to rest in the New Carlisle Cemetery at a later date. Contributions in memory of Mr. Wasik may be offered to The Center for Hospice Care, Inc., 501 Comfort Place, Mishawaka, IN 46545, or to the Mission Fund at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.
