MISHAWAKA - Lillian May “Peggy” Melkey, age 90, of Mishawaka, IN passed away on Tuesday, December 12, 2017. Peggy was a beloved homemaker, who also worked at Ball Band and Elm Road School as a teacher's aide. She had a lifelong curiosity in the truth of religion and had many friends at Howard Park, where she often played cards. She was a loving mother and grandmother; her family was blessed to have her in their lives. Peggy was born on May 10, 1927 in Matteson Township, MI to Thomas R. and Mary (Jackowiack) Misner. On March 29, 1943, she was married in South Bend, IN to Robert C. Melkey, who preceded her in death on January 16, 2004. Peggy is survived by her son Dave (Margaret) Melkey of Mishawaka, IN; grandchildren Matthew (Sarah) Melkey and Lindsey (Brandon) Nance; and great grandson Kameron Nance. A committal service will be held on Saturday, December 16, 2017 at 11:30 AM at the Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens Mausoleum in Osceola, IN, and a luncheon will be served at Coalbush United Methodist Church, following the committal service.
